“…partnering with parents to provide our children with the skills, experiences and resources which will enable them to become Christ-like disciples who Worship→Connect→Serve.” Grabbing children’s attention so that Jesus can grab their hearts by using interactive teaching curriculum specifically with your JourneyKid in mind, exciting environments, personal relationships with JourneyKids leaders and other children their age, and so much more. Children worship with their parents during the first part of the service, and then are invited to the JourneyZone for their own service. JourneyKids is a discipleship ministry engaging children in prayer, scripture reading and memorization, offering of gifts and talents, signing, biblical stories and lesions, crafts and skits. We want JourneyKids to be fun, with lessons that appeal to different kinds of learners and material that is biblically and educationally sound. Just as their parents don’t leave their faith behind when they exit the Sunday morning service, we want our children to continue to develop their relationship with God and grow in faith with the daily guidance and help of their parents through out the rest of the week. Children will bring home from JourneyKids each week an update so that their parents have each week’s Core Virtue, Memory Verse, Bottom Line (key concept), a question to ask kids, and a preview of the next week’s session. They will also bring home GodTime Cards, which focus their attention as they spend time reading the Bible and talking to God at home. Our curriculum is built around three basic truths, which we amplify through monthly themes and Bible stories.
The Three Basic Truths are amplified through monthly virtues (such as kindness, generosity and faith) and Bible stories. Every week there is a key TRUTH or bottom line that we drive home. It’s the ONE THING we want kids to understand and grab onto during their time in JourneyZone. We use 252Basic curriculum, named after the scriptural passage in Luke 2:52: And Jesus grew in wisdom and stature, and in favor with God and men.
Parents can check out this month’s curriculum – including the core virtue and the memory verse for the month, along with a list of the weekly Bible stories – at 252 Basics.
Konnect Building and strengthening children’s relationships with God, parents and others by enabling JourneyKids to form a sense of community and build a closer relationship with God through prayer, Bible study, and worship.
